Description

  • As a Perinatal Sonographer, you will be responsible for obstetric imaging in conjunction with other members of the defined health care team in Emory Perinatal Center.

  • Nuchal Translucency test, detailed anatomy scans, umbilical cord flow studies, amniotic fluid indices, biophysical profile, specialized Doppler studies, Amniocentesis, Chorionic Villi Sampling (CVS) and assisting with prenatal diagnosis and termination procedures as medically indicated.

  • Advanced knowledge of fetal abnormalities and their diagnosis. Proficient in performing scans of various anatomical areas and identifying cross sectional human anatomy, distinguishing normal from abnormal, to establish initial evaluation of sonograms. Beginner skill in fetal echocardiography.

  • Able to calibrate, adjust, and maintain ultrasound equipment and select proper transducer and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures, which may include Doppler, color Doppler imaging, M-mode and real time.

  • Utilize non-standard techniques when necessary with independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the performance of ultrasonography for diagnosis.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members.

  • Basic computer proficiency (e.g. email, electronic medical records). Reviews medical records to obtain necessary clinical information including patient history, lab results, and physician orders prior to examination, and communicates with patients to obtain history data.

  • Create preliminary prenatal ultrasound reports for each study performed. Demonstrates responsibility for own professional growth through pursuit of work-related experiences and educational opportunities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Ultrasound and at a minimum be registered as a Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS); Nuchal Translucency credential issued by the Nuchal Translucency Quality Review.

  • 2+ years Perinatal Imaging experience.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
