Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Serve as the resource expert for the planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance and upgrades of pharmacy and medication related components of the electronic health record (EHR), pharmacy information system (PIS), and other applications that impact pharmacy. Provides insight regarding safe and evidence-based medication management within the applications of a wide range of information technology systems. Analyzes and researches departmental budget(s) to locate errors and/or omissions, balance account records, and reconcile discrepancies. Supervises the Pharmacy Information Services team to develop and maintain information systems to meet department needs: Monitors the performance of the Pharmacy information systems to ensure that it appropriately supports the clinical and administrative needs of the department. Serves as a preceptor for Pharmacy residents and students. Supervises staff and manages employee performance. Provides on-going performance feedback, addresses problems, orients and trains employees, verifies competency and identifies and suggests ways to develop skills. Monitors workflow. Attends educational in-services as appropriate. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments. Collects, organizes, and analyzes data and generates and provides accurate and complete reports for management and/or regulatory agencies. Interprets applicable regulations and establishes filing and auditing procedures to ensure records and files are accurate and in compliance. Represents the Department on various hospital committees responsible for expanded computer support of patient care, financial, and administrative needs. Participates in local, state, and national pharmacy organizations and/or programs related to pharmacy practice. Reviews new Pharmacy IS contracts and works with Legal Services to ensure appropriate contract approval. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy (PharmD Degree), eligible for licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Georgia.

  • PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics residency plus two years of experience in health-system operations and/or informatics or 4 years of experience in health care information technology including project management, personnel management, and application production support.

  • Epic Willow and/or Beacon experience preferred. Individuals who became licensed prior to the PharmD requirement may also be considered.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium-Max 25lbs): up to 25 lbs, 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 25 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to moderate standing, walking, and sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
