The Santangelo laboratory in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Emory University, within the School of Medicine and Emory Vaccine Center is seeking several highly motivated and detailed scientists with interest in gene modulation, mRNA therapeutics, lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulation, immunology, and treatments for cancer, autoimmune disorders, and infectious disease. The Santangelo lab routinely publishes in high-impact journals such as Nature Biotechnology (Blanchard et al., 2021), Nature Materials (Rotolo et al., 2023), Molecular Therapy (Lindsay et al., 2020), ACS Nano (Beyersdorf et al. 2022), Advanced Science (Vanover et al., 2023), and more. The laboratory is outfitted with state-of-the-art testing equipment to enable mRNA preparation, LNP formulation, therapeutic testing, and more. In addition to federal funding, the Santangelo lab works with industry leaders in the mRNA synthesis, LNP formulation, and therapeutic spaces. We are actively expanding the ability of the laboratory to investigate multiple types of mRNA drugs in parallel. Job Duties
Works alongside scientists and technicians to design and test novel mRNA based drugs
Document and present detailed experimental designs and results
Prepares technical updates for reporting updates to funding agencies
Works with our domestic and international colleagues to plan and execute mRNA drug testing experiments
Prepares figures and authors manuscripts for submission to high impact journals
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.
