Description

Emory University School of Nursing invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral fellow to join a multidisciplinary team to analyze large data sets from studies of cancer symptoms and biological mechanisms (funded through National Institute of Health/National Institute of Nursing Research) and to develop behavioral interventions to manage cancer-related symptoms, such as fatigue.

The information to be analyzed are from longitudinal studies and include data from questionnaires, cognitive function batteries, laboratory assays, and mRNA gene expression and DNA methylation assays. This postdoctoral fellow will work closely with the PI (Dr. Canhua Xiao), and other team members including statisticians, co-investigators and research staff. The candidate is expected to attend weekly team meetings and disseminate findings through poster/oral presentations and written original manuscripts from project data. In addition, opportunities to develop research proposals under direct mentorship from Dr. Xiao may be provided. This fulltime position is for one year, but can be renewed for one or two additional years.

Minimum qualifications

• Doctoral degree or equivalent (PhD, MD etc) in nursing, epidemiology, public health, health psychology, or a health-related field,

• Strong interests in oncology research,

• Excellent data management and analysis skills using statistical software programs (i.e. SAS, SPSS, or R),

• Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills,

• Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively and collegially with colleagues,

• And excellence in work ethics including integrity, responsibility, and attendance.
