Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:A full-time postdoctoral traineeship on an NIH-funded T32 training grant entitled “Women’s Health and Intersectionality Using Data Science and Health Information Technology”. This T32 trainee program prepares nurse scientists with the knowledge and skills to employ Data Science (DS) and/or Health Information Technology (HIT) to improve women’s health while considering the intersectionality of multiple social determinants of health. This is in agreement with the overarching goals of Healthy People 2030, the NINR strategic plan (especially research lenses on health disparities and social determinants of health), the Trans-NIH Strategic Plan for Women’s Health Research, the IOM Report on Women’s Health Research, and the American Academy of Nursing’s Women’s Health Research Agenda. This training will build on the strengths of Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing’s currently funded research studies, faculty expertise, and supporting infrastructure. It will address women’s health issues with a conceptual focus on intersectionality among social determinants of health. Trainees will also develop knowledge and skills in interdisciplinary research methods related to women’s health, understand and apply DS and/or HIT, and/or develop and test interventions using DS and/or HIT in women’s health. Trainees will be engaged in research activities, research training seminars, interdisciplinary research, preparation of grants, scientific manuscripts, and reports, and work closely with a mentor. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants to the T32 postdoctoral program must submit official transcripts from previous and/or current institutions and 3 reference letters. Applications to the post-doctoral program should be either enrolled in or graduated from a research-focused doctoral program at the time of application. Postdoctoral applicants must submit their curriculum vitae and a brief description of their research goals including the next logical step in their research and research training, goals for research development including alignment with the goals of the T32, and interest in a faculty mentor; three letters of reference; and transcripts from their doctoral degree program.

Applicants must be US citizens or US permanent residents and must hold a pre-licensure nursing degree.
