The Aquinas Center of Theology (ACT) at Candler School of Theology at Emory University, in existence since 1987, serves to provide a Catholic scholarly presence across Emory University and the Archdiocese of Atlanta. The focus of the Aquinas Center is to promote dialogue and mutual understanding in the midst of growing polarization. As such, the Center serves as a bridge bringing together ideas, perspectives, theologies, and cultural traditions to promote mutual understanding. We do so in the ecumenical and dynamic context of Emory University’s Candler School of Theology.

To expand its mission, the Aquinas Center of Theology seeks a collaborative Program Coordinator. This employee will work with the Executive Director to expand the Center’s programs and initiatives among diverse racial and ethnic groups throughout the Archdiocese of Atlanta and at Emory. The position reports directly to the Executive Director.

In addition to this community-facing work, the Program Coordinator will work with the Director of Operations in the organizing, coordinating, and implementing the Aquinas Center’s activities.

An ideal, qualified candidate will be deeply engaged in Catholic life, well-versed in Catholic theology, and an active participant in contemporary Catholic theological conversations about the present and future of the Church. The candidate will have knowledge of and engagement with Catholic intellectual traditions and enthusiasm for building diverse community collaborations.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Work with the Executive Director in the development of programs and initiatives to further engage currently underrepresented racial and ethnic groups.

  • Organize, coordinate, and implement operational facets of programs and its related activities which include, but are not limited to the following: establishing long-term operational objectives, researching factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements.

  • Promote and manage program registration to accomplish program goals and objectives.

  • Conduct research and gather information to develop new programs.

  • Develop promotional materials and communications which includes social media, newsletters, or other written information related to programming.

  • Assist in developing and coordinating program-related meetings.

  • Prepare operational and statistical reports.

  • Represent the Aquinas Center in meetings, conferences, and networks with affiliated groups.

  • May supervise assigned project staff interns and or volunteers.

  • May participate in the budget planning process

  • May assist in identifying funding resources and developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives.

  • Develops work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement.

  • Develops promotional materials which may include content for reports, briefings, newsletters, grants or other written information related to the program.

  • Monitors expenditures and may participate in the budget planning process and prepare financial reports.

  • Conducts training, represents the program at meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups.

  • May supervise assigned project staff, interns and/or volunteers.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program.

  • Two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in Spanish, both spoken and written

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Canva

  • Clear and compelling communication skills, including strong public speaking abilities

  • Detail oriented individual with excellent time management skills

  • Commitment to acting with integrity and treating all people with Christian charity

  • Ability to multitask

  • Passion for the mission and vision of the Aquinas Center of Theology

  • Experience building or participating in diverse community collaborations

  • Eagerness to listen and adapt to the needs and concerns of others

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with staff

  • Knowledge of and engagement with Catholic intellectual traditions

  • Experience with grant-writing and/or reporting

  • Proficient in CRM system knowledge

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
