JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) is seeking a Program Coordinator to support its undergraduate program, its affiliated Studies in Sexualities (SIS) Program, and other department-wide programs and operations. Under the Supervision of the Academic Department Administrator and in coordination with the Director of Undergraduate Studies, the Program Coordinator’s main responsibilities will include:

  • Business operations, including but not limited to financial reporting and processing, as well as everyday office management.

  • Student advising and record keeping; interpretation of program policies and procedures.

  • Administering student online registration, tracking students' progress toward the degree, and verifying requirements have been completed.

  • Serve as point of contact for faculty and students concerning practical implementation of educational policy and procedures.

  • Event planning, marketing, and logistics.

  • Department-wide and program specific communications, including website updating and maintenance.

  • Support administration and operations of department as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Other responsibilities may include implementing promotional strategies, developing new programmatic initiatives, and creating digital media. The position will interact closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students.

Ability to take initiative and be pro-active is a must for this job.

The Program Coordinator duties are organizing, coordinating, and planning operational facets of a program and its related activities which include, but are not limited to the following: establishing long-term operational objectives, researching factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input into the development of strategic plans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement.

  • Conducts research and gathers information to develop various publications.

  • Develops promotional materials which may include content for reports, briefings, newsletters, grants or other written information related to the program.

  • Assists in developing and coordinating program-related conferences, conventions, or meetings.

  • Monitors expenditures and may participate in the budget planning process and prepare financial reports.

  • May assist in identifying funding resources and developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives.

  • Prepares operational and statistical reports.

  • Conducts training, represents the program at meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups. May supervise assigned project staff, interns and/or volunteers.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program.

  • Two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff and faculty at all levels.

  • Excellent financial skills. Experience using Emory Business Intelligence (EBI) Demonstrated ability to multi-task and attention to detail.

  • Creative brainstorming and strong problem-solving abilities.Exceptional software skills (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Zoom, and Adobe Acrobat).

  • Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.

  • Experience with Canva, Adobe design software, or other graphics programs. Experience with course/learning management software.

  • Experience maintaining website platforms.

  • Experience with professional digital media content creation.

  • Enthusiasm and energy to proactively contribute to a dynamic and expanding work environment.
