TheExternship Program ( at Emory Law is seeking a Program Coordinator to facilitate the operations of the program, affiliated faculty, and students so that the program can help students utilize the skills and principles learned in the classroom and apply them in practice. The ideal candidate is a person passionate about legal education as well as the goals ofthe program. Experiential learning - Fieldwork:

TheProgram Coordinator will assist the Director in the execution, management, supervision, and evaluation of an externship program, operating in compliance with ABA standards. Responsibilities shall include:

  • assist with the recruitment, on-boarding, and support of excellent mentors (lawyers and judges),

  • supervision of student fieldwork, specifically reviewing orientation and points of contact log entries,

  • identify any mentor-student concerns or issues,

  • organize an orientation for students to introduce the goals and objectives of the program,

  • establish and coordinate group mentor sessions for students,

  • identify and announce fieldwork opportunities for students,

  • in collaboration with the Registrar’s Office,manage course registration for all students,

  • update course content in Canvas,

  • assist in the training and support of adjuncts,

  • compile course evaluations,

  • keep detailed records using university-approved systems includingSymplicityand Canvas,

  • capture the datarequired to deliver student feedback, assess performance in the program, and assure quality control and compliance with ABA fieldwork requirements,

  • update reference materials, including manuals, guides, and Canvas,

  • support the Director in compiling all required information/reports for accreditation, faculty review, and other outside agencies,

  • support communications with internal and external stakeholders (with the assistance of the communications department) to include marketing, outreach, and public relations including management of relevant and up-to-date social media posts (LinkedIn, Facebook) and the program pages onSymplicity,

  • collaboratewith other departments to recruit students and support employment,

  • connectwith and develop strong and mutually supportive relationships with lawyers and judges through volunteer work, conferences, and other networking activities.

  • serve on law school committees and appropriate committees outside the school of law,

  • support of a secondary, smaller school of law program, and

  • perform related responsibilities as required.


  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program and

  • two years of related experience

  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.


  • Juris Doctor or Juris Master

  • Experience in a legal environment or school of law
