The Program Coordinator, Simulation Operations is responsible for maintaining the daily operations of the Emory University School of Medicine simulation lab. Specifically, the role will assist with maintenance, set-up, and take down of simulation scenarios and sim lab activities. In addition, the position will assist in educating new faculty on sim lab equipment and software, as well as assist with scheduling for simulation and sim lab experiences. Routine cleaning, maintenance, and inspections of equipment is required to ensure efficient sim lab functionality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement.

  • Conducts research and gathers information to develop various publications.

  • Develops promotional materials which may include content for reports, briefings, newsletters, grants or other written information related to the program.

  • Assists in developing and coordinating program-related conferences, conventions, or meetings.

  • Monitors expenditures and may participate in the budget planning process and prepare financial reports.

  • May assist in identifying funding resources and developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives.

  • Prepares operational and statistical reports.

  • Conducts training, represents the program at meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups.

  • May supervise assigned project staff, interns and/or volunteers.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required. (i.e. ACLS/BLS skills check-offs)

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • Works collaboratively with faculty to design, plan, implement, and evaluate simulation education lab activities which support student learning outcomes.

  • Assists in assessing need, care, maintenance, and use of sim lab equipment, supplies, and facilities.

  • Requests supplies and equipment as needed.

  • Completes room setup and take down for clinical simulations.

  • Assisting in keeping, and organizing, inventory of supplies within sim center.

  • Offer technical support during simulation sessions and address any user concerns promptly.

  • Connects with vendors and learns medical terminology and equipment.

  • Participates in technical training as necessary (conferences, webinars, courses).

  • Keeps current with new simulation technologies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program.

  • Two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CHSOS certification, or willingness to obtain is required.

  • AHA Instructor certification or ability to become an AHA Instructor (ACLS, BLS) is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and with A/V equipment.

  • One to three years of experience in healthcare simulation or other relevant experience.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills, and organized, self-directed learner.

  • Strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to prepare and organize sim lab and patient simulators.

  • Ability to understand and utilize advanced technical sim-lab equipment and communicate that knowledge to others as appropriate.

  • Ability to independently move equipment (less than 25 lbs) and move manikins (more than 25lbs) with the assistance of others.

  • Willingness to learn healthcare simulation best practices and industry standards.

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.

  • Safe and appropriate operation of the lab equipment and material is essential.
