Emory Healthcare/Emory University Program Coordinator in Atlanta, Georgia
The Undergraduate Research Program supports undergraduate students involved in research across the University. The program offers information, advising, programs, and resources to support both students and faculty involved in undergraduate research. Current initiatives of the program include efforts to expand campus-wide undergraduate research opportunities and increase campus awareness of how these opportunities impact student engagement and success.
This position reports to the Associate Director for Undergraduate Research Programs (URP) and provides support to students and faculty interested in or actively engaged in undergraduate research. The Program Coordinator will assist with the administration and coordination of the URP’s undergraduate research opportunities by organizing, coordinating, and planning operational facets of the program.
Duties of the Program Coordinator include but are not limited to:
Coordinates URP academic year programming including organization of outreach events and associated logistics.
Oversees portions of the Research Partners Program including communications with students and faculty mentors.
Provides support for the coordination of Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Program activities, including coordinating and administering the program's objectives.
Assists in the administration of URP’s application and review process for granting programs including contributing to quality improvements of these processes.
Plans and implements research symposia and other major URP events.
Maintains detailed documentation of URP program files and records.
Assists in the assessment, evaluation, and reporting of URP related activities and initiatives.
Organizes communications through various URP platforms to students, faculty, and staff about research opportunities.
Works collaboratively with student groups/organizations, academic departments, administrators, and other university offices.
Attends relevant conferences, regional events, and professional development workshops.
Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Preferred Skills and Background:
Prior experience in undergraduate research programs, mentoring undergraduate researchers, or advising.
Prior experience in student programming and evaluation.
Experience with specific software and tools related to higher education programming including Slate, Canvas (or other learning management systems), Box, Wufoo, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Office 365.
Experience with event planning and management.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Knowledge of effective outreach and strategies.
The incumbent holding this position must be reliable, flexible, and detail-oriented.
Regular work hours Monday through Friday
Evening and weekend hours may be required
