The Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) has helped to define the discipline of women’s studies in the United States. It has sought from its start to connect the study of women and gender with race, sexuality, and class, and not to isolate gender as a single category of analysis. The Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) is seeking a Program Coordinator to support its undergraduate program and other department-wide programs and operations. Under the Supervision of the Academic Department Administrator and in coordination with the Director of Undergraduate Studies. This is not an administrative support position.
Establishing long-term operational objectives, researching factors that may impact the success of the program, and working with individuals or groups to research and document program requirements in order to provide appropriate input into the development of strategic plans
Develops work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitors progress toward their achievement
Conducts research and gathers information to develop various publications
Develops promotional materials which may include content for reports, briefings, newsletters, grants or other written information related to the program
Assists in developing and coordinating program-related conferences, conventions, or meetings
Monitors expenditures and may participate in the budget planning process and prepare financial reports
May assist in identifying funding resources and developing fund-raising strategies and initiatives
Prepares operational and statistical reports
Conducts training, represents the program at meetings and conferences, and networks with affiliated groups
May supervise assigned project staff, interns and/or volunteers
Performs related responsibilities as required
Business operations, student advising, record keeping, and course management for the WGSS Undergraduate program and affiliated Studies in Sexualities (SIS) Program
Implementing promotional strategies, and developing new strategic initiatives
Creating digital media and managing the WGSS website
Interact closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to the program and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Strong organizational and project management skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and attention to detail
Creative brainstorming and strong problem-solving abilities
Experience with Canva, Adobe design software, or other graphics programs is a plus
Experience managing website platforms is a plus
Experience with professional social media content creation and management is a plus
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with staff and faculty at all levels
NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employees
