Looking for a charismatic and creative Director of Programs at the forefront of acute care innovation.

Redefining the spectrum of acute care, Health DesignED at Emory sits at the center of healthcare, technology and social innovation. We are building experiences that meet patients where they are when they first sense “something is not right” and delivering care that is personalized to the needs of socially, economically, and culturally diverse patients and their communities. Our work is about making healthcare easier for patients while being mindful that equitable innovation is at the intersection of high-quality care and affordable cost. With a footprint across academic, community, and safety-net hospitals, the Health DesignED Director of Programs will manage a growing portfolio of projects and partners, act as a key liaison between the Center, the Emory ecosystem, industry and corporate stakeholders.   • Directs the strategic planning, development and implementation of a large and complex program or of several smaller programs.

  • Plans, administers and monitors program budgets.

  • Develops short and long term goals and objectives.

  • Oversees related special projects.

  • May represent the program in various national and international settings.

  • May manage the solicitation of funding from foundation, corporate, individual and governmental donors.

  • Collaborates with and seeks the support of representatives from other organizations.

  • Establishes and administers policies and procedures.

  • Supervises staff.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.


  • Collaborate with leadership to formulate a scalable innovation roadmap and Center strategy.

  • Manage innovation projects from ideation to launch to impact analysis and collaborating with our ecosystem along the way.

  • Foster, implement, evaluate, and maintain external partnerships and collaboration opportunities.

  • Create collateral for prospective strategic partners and stakeholders. High level of comfort with excel and Canva are ideal.

  • Manage internal consultants across marketing, design, research, and business development work streams.

  • Manage fellow and interns when necessary, ensuring phenomenal contribution and experience.

  • Participate and support ecosystem activities to build Health DesignED thought leadership


  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to program work and seven years of related experience which includes two years at a management level, OR equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.


  • Excel and financial savvy. You are extremely comfortable with Excel and can create and navigate financial models with ease. Bonus points for the ability to create data visualizations in Tableau. Ability to pressure test a model. Provide architecture for excel model.

  • An eye for design. You have an artistic flair, and you can create visually appealing decks and one-pagers in Canva. Expert (market) researcher – you know where to go to find answers to important questions related to healthcare/business and can calculate key metrics like TAM (total addressable market).

  • Natural Facilitator with experience with systems thinking and design thinking methodologies Business development experience. Adept at owning demand generating and marketing/sales opportunities for consulting/ advisory work streams (i.e., design studios, CMO retainer model, custom enterprise consulting contracts) Fanatical attention to detail.

  • Strong problem-solving track record—you are able to think critically through unique problems with no set playbook and quickly implement a path to a solution, and you can toggle effortlessly between big-picture strategy and in-the-weeds tactical problem solving.

  • Ability to work on multiple initiatives in parallel that require frequent communication, high level of organization, and problem solving skills with consistent high quality.

  • Self-starter with a high level of personal accountability who is able to navigate uncertainty and thrive with minimal management.

  • The ability to work and communicate effectively with physicians, engineers, scientists, community leaders, administrators, and corporate professionals.

We also value experience working in fast-paced startup environment. Bonus if you have technical understanding or experience with big data (data science, business analytics, AI, machine learning) or app development.
