JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Manages the operations portion of a program at Emory Continuing Education (ECE).

  • Oversees the planning, scheduling, confirming, executing, and reviewing of classes offered in a program area including applicable certificate programs.

  • Plans new courses and works with instructors to improve the quality of existing courses.

  • Oversees the daily financial tracking for the program.

  • Provides input to the Program Director regarding the need for the creation of new content.

  • Participates in the development of staff goals and objectives.

  • Provides leadership and support for the creation of processes, activities and tools to facilitate instructional planning and program design.

  • Manages the instructor recruitment and hiring processes.

  • Meets with instructors to discuss improvements and expansions of their classes.

  • Recommends continuation or expansion of existing programs based on results and evaluations.

  • Develops and implements annual training plans for instructor and observes new instructors in the classroom.

  • Leads staff in the planning of courses.

  • Designs, administers and implements training programs and initiatives, including classroom learning, e-learning courses, webcasts, and seminars.

  • Manages training materials and activities to ensure they are accessible to students.

  • Provides content for website.

  • Selects instructors, coordinates program expenses, manages resources, measures program's ongoing performance (quality and financial), and prepares budgets and financial projections.

  • Hires, supervises and evaluates staff.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • Responsible for the administration of the Workforce Development Program at Emory Continuing Education.

  • Oversees the planning, scheduling, confirming, executing, and reviewing of classes offered within the program area including applicable certificate and training programs.

  • The Program Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing project schedules, budgets, resources, and internal processes to achieve the program goals as articulated by the Executive Director.

  • Oversee general program operations: Supervise day-to-day operations of the programs to ensure proper support and administration for the program. Provides input to the Executive Director regarding the need for the creation of new programs, certificates, content and courses.

  • May manage Program Coordinators, instructional designers and client account advisors.

  • The Program Manager will also provide leadership and support for the creation of processes, activities and tools to facilitate instructional planning and program design.

  • Working with instructors: New instructors must be hired and existing instructors must constantly improve their courses. Hold meetings with individual instructors to discuss improvements and expansions of their classes. Recommend continuation or expansion of existing programs based on results and evaluations. Manage the instructor recruitment and hiring processes. Review instructor applications and schedule test teaches. Provide orientation for new instructors. Develops and implements annual training plans for instructors. Observation of new instructors, including a minimum of two visits to the classroom in the first year. All other instructors are reviewed as needed.

  • Schedule programs: Serve as lead staff in the planning of courses. Design, administer and implement training programs and initiatives, including classroom learning, e-learning courses, webcasts, and seminars. Our training must be innovative, practical and interactive, potentially with certification testing. You will have regular contact with instructors and customers/clients. Refine a process for indexing and managing training materials and activities to ensure they are accessible to students. Management of the website including ensuring it has sufficient content and that it is user-friendly. The website should evolve under the Program Manager into a key integrated component of program marketing and education.

  • Financial tracking and administration: Provide oversight and logistical support for the program, including selecting and negotiating with instructors, coordination of program expenses, managing resources, measuring the program’s ongoing performance (quality and financial), and preparing budgets and financial projections. Maintains control of expenses through planning and tracking.

  • Relationship and Reporting Structure:This position reports directly to the Executive Director.

  • May supervise staff as needed for the delivery of program and training courses.

  • May work with the Student Success staff to address questions about classes they are unable to answer.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in a field related to specified program area and three years related program management experience, or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.
