Position Summary: The Community Advisor will be responsible for answering inbound calls for PEACE for MOMS, Georgia’s perinatal psychiatry consultation and access program, triaging those phone calls, scheduling consultations, and providing access to support service referrals to clinicians and their patients.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Serve as first point of communication between PEACE for MOMs and clinicians in the community (physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, midwives

  • Answer inbound calls, primarily from physicians regarding our services, referrals, and registration

  • Schedule consultations for perinatal patients with our PEACE for MOMS Psychiatrists, as well as our psychiatrists and community clinicians

  • Performs resource and referral duties in a HIPAA compliant manner, including correspondence with providers and patients regarding clinical and referral updates.

  • Maintains HIPAA compliant case file documentation both in electronic and paper format in accordance with programmatic standards

  • Gather necessary information from physicians and enter it accurately and promptly into REDCAP for P4M psychiatrist to review prior to consultations

  • Perform outreach via mail, email, and phone to various mental health and medical offices

  • Assist with the development and distribution of program materials

  • Maintain psychotherapy referral data base

  • Perform all duties with the highest level of customer service

  • Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills to convey information clearly to inbound calling clinicians

  • Supports patient operations with overall care coordination for patients, serving as their primary point of contact for all customer service, administrative and scheduling needs.

  • Acts as the liaison for the patient and family, working with both administrative and clinical staff from multiple departments to improve the patient's overall experience.

  • Position enhances the patient experience by serving as the primary point of contact and administrative care coordinator for established patients and/or family members.

  • Ensures that all related patient appointments for care are secured in a timely manner and coordinated for patient convenience and addresses and resolves process or administrative issues impeding timely access to care.

  • Responsible for collaborating with physicians and members of the care delivery team to triage, coordinate and consistently manage the patient care experience.

  • Position works with patients and families to answer questions, provide emotional support and resolve issues concerning the administrative coordination of their care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma required;

  • Two (2) years of work experience in a patient care coordination or patient scheduling role required.

  • Proficient computer skills required.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.

  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human/Social Services, Social Work, Psychology/ Counseling, Public Health, or related field.

  • Experience or a strong interest in mental health and women’s health.

  • Expertise utilizing various software applications including Microsoft Office applications

  • Work independently while prioritizing workload

  • Detail oriented

  • Comfort with speaking to physicians and mental health professionals, as well as patients

  • Respect for diverse views and approaches of team members, providers, and patients

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
