J OB DESCRIPTION:

Under limited supervision, uses a basic knowledge of public health principles to analyze, develop, implement, and promote new and creative strategies and solutions to address public health issues and challenges. Addresses public health issues by providing education, technical assistance, advocacy, public awareness, and research. Works with programs or studies designed to evaluate the prevalence or surveillance of public health issues and the effectiveness of targeted interventions. May provide technical assistance to organizations to include presentations, web-based resources, strategies, and educational forums to address specific public health issues. May work with clinical study sites on patient recruitment and data collection standards. Assists with data collection and data analysis. Contributes to proposals, protocols, data analysis plans, reports, manuscripts, and presentation of study findings. May assist in designing, developing, and conducting targeted training initiatives. May collaborate with external organizations to develop action plans and goals to achieve specific objectives. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A master's degree in public health, a master's of science degree in public health or health education, or a master's in development practice from an accredited school.

  1. JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a candidate with advanced knowledge of research methodology and techniques to assist with a complex Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded hypothesis generating study of four countries that have shown exemplary improvements in vaccine coverage and equity.Under limited supervision, the applicant will use a basic knowledge of public health principles to analyze, develop, implement, and promote new and creative strategies and solutions to address public health issues and challenges. May address public health issues by providing education, technical assistance, and/or advocacy, as well asworking in close collaboration with researchers in disciplines ranging from public health, business, political science, systems engineering and sociology. Position involves conducting quantitative research, developing tools and protocols. The applicant will ensure that study data and systems are maintained and accurately documented, and may perform statistical analysis of numerical data.This position will require working at study sites on patient recruitment and data collection standards. The applicant will assist with data collection and data analysis and contribute to proposals, protocols, data analysis plans, reports, manuscripts, and presentation of study findings. May assist in designing, developing, and conducting targeted training initiatives. This position requires collaboration with external organizations to develop action plans and goals to achieve specific objectives. Performsrelated responsibilities as required.

Experience with vaccines is useful, but not essential. International research experience and qualitative research experience required. We are looking to build a multi-disciplinary team and experience with any of the following, business, health system delivery, systems science, implementation science is a plus.

Start date is May 15, 2019. Frequent travel to and extended stays in at least one of the following countries: Zambia, India (Bihar and Assam), Senegal and/or Nepal. French fluency or fluency in native languages spoken in these countries a strong plus. International field experience a strong plus, especially in the listed countries.

  1. SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the PIs, the PHPA will:

  • Ensure compliance of study team to protocols and modify protocols as needed

  • May help data collection tools and establish and manage databases

  • Liaise with field staff to ensure proper documentation and recording of study data

  • Conduct formative research

  • Develop work plans, detailed implementation plans and monitoring of project activities

  • Liaise with government agencies, collaborators and community stakeholders intarget countries

  • Support cleaning and analysis of data using statistical applications (SAS, SPSS, STATA, Epi-Info)

  • Analyze qualitative data (MaxQDA)

  • Assist in identifying, documenting, disseminating best practices in the project;

  • Draft peer-reviewed manuscripts
