Emory University Research Specialist - Department of Psychology - Canine Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuropolicy in Atlanta, Georgia

A one-year position is available in the Canine Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory and Center for Neuropolicy at Emory University. We train dogs to go into an MRI scanner awake and use fMRI to noninvasively study cognitive processes in their brains. The goal is to decode what dogs think and feel. The successful candidate will join a dynamic environment with a dedicated 3T research scanner and collaborations across multiple disciplines. This is a great position for a post-baccalaureate experience. The ideal person would have basic neuroscience knowledge, experience with animals or animal training (especially dogs), know their way around a Unix command line, and have programming experience (preferably Python). Some subset of these skills is acceptable. Please submit a letter of interest with your application.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules. Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator. May be required to participate in laboratory maintenance activities such as sterilization and cleaning of equipment, ordering of supplies, inventory and media preparation. Maintains records, files and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases. Compiles data and records results of studies for publications, grants and seminar presentations. Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents. Performs related responsibilities as required by principal investigator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
