Join the exciting research team in the Ericsen Laboratory! This particular Research Specialist position is located at the Yerkes National Primate Research Center, Field Station in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and operates in a beautifully modern, state-of-art laboratory.
Although this position does not have direct interaction with the primates, the facility is part of the largest outdoor colony habit in the U.S., and affords the researchers wonderfully interesting views of the primates in as-close-to their natural habitat as you will find in the nation.
The successful candidate should have experience with good laboratory practices, good writing skills, and an eye for detail.
This position will be required to train and help with the experiments, with primary focus being on running PCR and conducting assays.
We are seeking a self-motivated and pro-active individual to join an interdisciplinary team working to characterize the role of microbial commensals in shaping the host immune response to infectious disease.
The successful applicant should have a working knowledge of basic molecular and cellular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, DNA/RNA isolation, ficoll-separation, and primary cell culture) and be prepared to demonstrate technical competence during a pre-employment assessment.

Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules.
Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator. May be required to participate in laboratory maintenance activities such as sterilization and cleaning of equipment, ordering of supplies, inventory and media preparation.
Maintains records, files and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases.
Compiles data and records results of studies for publications, grants and seminar presentations.
Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
Performs related responsibilities as required by principal investigator.
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
