A technical position is available in the laboratory of Drs. Douglas Graham and Deborah DeRyckere. This employee will work as a member of a highly integrated team to conduct and manage studies using mouse models of cancer to develop novel therapies targeting the TAM-family of receptor tyrosine kinases. Additional roles will include processing and banking of leukemia patient samples to support the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Leukemia/Lymphoma Biorepository.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules.

• Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator.

• May be required to participate in laboratory maintenance activities such as sterilization and cleaning of equipment, ordering of supplies, inventory and media preparation.

• Maintains records, files and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases.

• Compiles data and records results of studies for publications, grants and seminar presentations.

• Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.

• Performs related responsibilities as required by principal investigator.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

• Work independently to design and conduct experiments.

• Collect and analyze data.

• Communicate study results to lead investigators and other team members.

• Perform in vivo testing of novel therapeutic agents in a variety of mouse tumor models.

• Process blood and bone marrow samples collected from children with leukemia.

• Maintain a database of clinical information and metrics associated with leukemia patient samples.

• Coordinate treatment for animal studies, including scheduling, facility access, reagents, equipment, and communication with team members.

• Maintain the lab mouse colony.

• Meet Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee regulations.

• Train students and other staff to perform laboratory assays and techniques.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• B.S., B.A. or M.S. degree in a scientific field.

• Previous laboratory experience.

• Previous experience with mouse models.

NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
