The Department of Mathematics (http://math.emory.edu) at Emory University seeks to fill multiple positions in its Emory Research/Teaching Fellows program in computational mathematics and data-enabled sciences. Appointments are normally for two years, with the possibility of renewal for a third year. The maximum teaching load is two courses per semester with the possibility of a reduction. Positions are subject to the availability of funds.

Applicants must have (or soon receive) a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field and show evidence or promise of excellence in teaching and research.

The successful applicants are expected to collaborate with their faculty mentors on research projects at the intersection of scientific computing, inverse problems, and machine learning. In addition to a strong background in numerical analysis and scientific computing, applicants with an interest in machine learning, deep neural networks, reinforcement learning, and active learning are preferred.

The successful applicants will be part of our @Emory research group, which conducts cutting-edge computational and applied mathematics research using mathematically rigorous model- and data-driven approaches. @Emory provides a vibrant research environment and is also home to an NSF Research Training Group as well as the Research Experience for Undergraduates and Teachers (http://www.math.emory.edu/site/cmds-reuret) site on Computational Mathematics and Data Science.
