The Department of Resource Advancement supports the administrative and operational needs of the Advancement and Alumni Engagement division. This support can be in the form of financial, data, employee resources and fundraising support. This position will report to the Senior Vice President of Advancement and Alumni Engagement.
Provides leadership and strategic direction to the financial, data, reporting, analytical, and technology efforts for Advancement and Alumni Engagement.
Manages a team of senior staff who perform at the highest levels with sustained success in financial, data, and fundraising support.
Leads and executes the short- and long-term projects and strategic initiatives that support the philanthropic revenue, campaign, and alumni/constituent engagement goals for the division.
Serves as a key member of the senior leadership team for the division and facilitates partnerships across the University and Healthcare.
Oversight for the division's fiscal planning and budgeting, information systems, gift administration, information records management, prospect management and research operations, data analytics and decision support systems, donor support services, compliance, principal risks, and strategic initiatives.
Performs other related duties as required.
A bachelor's degree and ten years of related experience in higher education and/or healthcare advancement services, data analytics, finance, or accounting with a minimum of ten years managing staff.

Master’s level degree.
Successful candidates will possess extensive experience using advanced analytics to drive enhanced fundraising results, researching and implementing software platforms, managing complex projects, budgets, and financial reports, working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with data modeling applications, marketing automation platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, database and project management software, and CRM systems.
Proficiency in fundraising reporting and counting.
Strong knowledge of financial accounting systems (FASB 116 and 117 specifically) and IRS regulations with regard to charitable giving and reporting practices, particularly those related to a higher-education setting.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving skills with attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, navigate a complex work environment, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience leading teams and departments, working independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Superb written and verbal communication skills as well as effective presentation skills.
Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.
Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.
Capacity to lead and develop a team’s skills through effective feedback and coaching, motivating and empowering colleagues while being institutionally minded, strategic, and impactful.
The role will be granted the opportunity to work from home temporarily during the COVID-19 pandemic, with intent to return to an Emory University location in the future. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
