  • Develops, administers and monitors budgets, accounts, policies and procedures relating to operational activities in the areas of human resources, finance, facilities management and research for a department, division or school.

  • Ensures that awarded grants conform to defined budget parameters and projects budget needs to accommodate future grant funding increases, changes and awards.

  • Ensures the preparation of operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies.

  • May supervise staff and perform related responsibilities as required.


  • Coordinate fiscal, human resources, and business operations for 1,900 graduate students across 50 doctoral and master’s programs in the Laney Graduate School (LGS)

  • Manage student financial data to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with university and sponsor policies

  • Develop, document, and implement business processes to optimize operational effectiveness and ensure consistency

  • Interface with graduate program faculty, staff, and students to execute funding packages, reconcile accounts, and perform cost analyses

  • Collaborate with central divisions including Human Resources, Payroll, Financial Aid, Student Financial Services, Finance, Research Administration, International Student and Scholar Services, and Nonresident Tax Office

  • Create routine and ad hoc data reports and executive summaries for leadership

  • Manage, train, and coach high-performing team of finance professionals


  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field and five years of professional business or management experience or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

  • Some positions in this classification may require previous supervisory experience.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills

  • Creative approach to problem solving, solution implementation, and process improvement

  • Self-motivated to take initiative, ownership, and accountability for individual and team’s success

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate through ambiguity and change to produce positive outcomes

  • Passionate about supporting graduate education to advance Emory’s academic mission

  • Service orientation to anticipate needs and exceed expectations for constituents

  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft, OBIEE, Tableau or Power BI, and project management tools

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
