Facilitates the VP for Research Administration's efforts to operationalize strategy across the award lifecycle, develop and implement ORA training, coordinate stakeholder communication, and develop synergies across units to ensure integration, transparency and efficiency.

Co-develops, reviews, analyzes, and operationalizes ORA's strategy for creating a robust and resilient research infrastructure related to grant and award management.

Enhances ORA's bandwidth by creating synergies and coordination between units responsible for grants and contracts administration (RAS, OSP, RGC, OTT, OCR), including leading working groups focusing on the transition of awards between groups (intergroup activity), and their respective systems.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Co-leads IT solutions, implementation, enhancements, and training for Emory's contract and grants management systems.

  • Develops, implements, and manages ORA's internal (ORA) and external (Stakeholders) annual feedback assessments related to grants and contracts administration.

  • Organizes activities to review grant and contract administrative data, creates process improvement initiatives, and reports out to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Leads Root-Cause Analyses on issues that surface that span multiple grant/contract administrative units.

  • Directs and coordinates activities consistent with established strategic priorities, goals, objectives, and policies.

  • Co-develops, implements, and assesses training across ORA, with particular focus on the award life cycle.

  • Develops, implements, and integrates training programs in collaboration with ORA leaders designed to attract, develop, and retain the highest caliber team members.

  • Executes on strategic projects to support ORA's goals creating operational efficiency across all units.

  • Creates and facilitates ORA's communication plan that fosters transparency and collaboration within ORA and with our stakeholders.

  • Creates ORA operations strategy and policies; communicates strategy and policies to stakeholders.

  • Ensures all initiatives align with ORA strategic priorities, core values, and culture.

  • Sets comprehensive goals for performance, process improvement, and efficiency.

  • Creates an ORA team culture that values, recognizes, and generates high performance.

  • Supports innovation and challenges the status quo.

  • Ensures the integration of new initiatives into ORA operations while minimizing the risk of potential negative impact on existing operations by validating adjustments to existing processes, and ensuring provision of sufficient training.

  • Supports cross-functional integration.

  • Drives and communicates the ORA strategy, vision, and service culture.

  • Writes and submits reports to the VPRA, SVPR, and ORA Unit leaders.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree, preferably in Business, and ten years of research administration experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Experience in strategic planning to lead change and influence stakeholders to bring about process improvements strongly preferred.

  • Proven ability to build relationships across multiple constituency groups.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
