Overview

The Epic Builder Program enhances operational efficiency by empowering Finance Department employees, known as Finance Builders (FB), to enact specific Epic system updates, reducing the workload on IT Analysts. The FB Role, requiring Epic Certification or attainment of Epic Builder Certification within a set time-frame, ensures agile changes within the Epic system. Maintenance of Epic Builder Certification is mandated, involving NVT and AE exams periodically. Operating with designated security measures, FBs undertake tasks such as building Epic codes and updating work queues, following established Change Management protocols. They serve as crucial liaisons for the IT Analyst team during routine Epic System updates.

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree and Six (6) years of previous related healthcare experience in Healthcare Revenue Cycle/Revenue Integrity or Finance, focused in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance and Accounting,

  • Charge/Revenue Integrity;

  • Charge Capture/Reconciliation;

  • Healthcare Compliance;

  • Charge Auditing;

  • CDM management; Coding and/or Hospital/Professional billing procedures.

  • Combination of Education and Experience maybe considered in lieu of a degree.

Description

  • The Epic Builder Program reduces the volume of requests forwarded to the IT Analysts by defining specific Epic system updates which can be made by Finance Department employees known as Finance Builders.

  • This Finance Builder (FB) Role serves as a resource to allow for more agile changes in the Epic system.

  • The Finance Builder Role must either have Epic Certification or will be required to pass Epic Builder Certification within a reasonable time period of the start date in this position.

  • Epic Builder Certification is expected to be kept current, both via the NVT (New Version Training) process and the (AE) Application Essentials exam (every 3-4 years).

  • The operational FB will have the security to make changes, such as building Epic CDM/CGT Codes and updating Charge Review Work queues in Epic POC environment and is responsible for testing their system updates.

  • They will follow designated Change Management protocols. The FB plays an important role as a key liaison for the IT Analyst team during routine Epic System updates.

Preferred Qualifications and skills:

  • The ideal candidate is a self-motivated leader who possesses healthcare business knowledge and technical aptitude.

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) Highly Skilled Analyst with intimate knowledge of Epic

  • Charge Router, Charge Description Master (CDM)) or CGT and Charge Capture workflows and Work Queue Management Manages daily operation of the Charge Description Master (CDM) or Charge Generation Tracker (CGT) and ensures that all CDM/CGT requests are processed and issues are resolved in an appropriate timeframe.

  • Ensures the on-going accuracy and integrity of the CDM or CGT by making sure all changes are communicated and coordinated with the IT analyst.

  • With Limited Direction, leads task/projects from system design to implementation. Is able to coordinate complex tasks and assignments while remaining dependable in meeting deadlines.

  • Works well independently, while also being a collaborative team player. Coaches and serves a resource for less experienced Finance Epic Builders.

  • Responsible for maintaining the CDM/CGT by incorporating new charges/services and updating existing charges.

  • Responsible for CDM/CGT alternate HCPCS and revenue codes logic CoordinatesBuilds/Maintains EPIC Charge Code ID, New CPTs in CDM/CGT, Revenue Codes for all Charges, General Ledger Build, Cost Center Assignment Table, Fee Schedule(s), Work queues and Revenue/Bill Area Routing Maintains Epic Certification (Resolute Hospital Billing Charging or Resolute Professional Billing Revenue Integrity: Charge Capture and Coding) Resolves more complex, problems causing payer denial or failed Medicare edits as they involve the charge master.

  • Manages CDM/CGT Epic projects including documentation, file building, testing, validation, workflow decisions, and implementation.

  • Works with all Epic financial, clinical teams, Revenue Cycle and IT for all charging related parameters to implement and maintain Epic ambulatory, clinical, and financial systems.

  • Ensures non-CDM/CGT components of Epic involved with charging are up-to-date and compliant.

  • Reviews account issues and troubleshooting root causes of Epic and billing issues.

  • Participates in upgrades, Assists users troubleshooting, and performs maintenance for CDM/CGT charging/pricing software programs.

  • This position provides specialized technical knowledge, analytical skills, and support to Finance Leadership, Revenue Cycle (Revenue Integrity), and staff in order to successfully meet goals related to the revenue cycle and charge compliance Will abide by System-Wide Change Management policies and procedures
