JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Assists in managing administrative activities associated with research projects including training and supervision of personnel, grant and budget preparation, data management and statistical analysis and adherence to applicable regulations.

  • Assists in preparing budgets, monitors expenditures and prepares financial reports. Manages databases including data collection, coding, analysis and storage. Assists in developing and submitting grant proposals; monitors grant expenditures and advises principal investigator of changes in reporting or accounting requirements. Serves as project liaison to other departments, outside organizations, government agencies and product representatives.

  • Oversees the preparation of operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies.

  • Ensures project is administered according to research protocol. May assist in recruiting and interviewing patients/subjects, developing and conducting tests and surveys, gathering or abstracting data or making presentations.

  • May conduct literature searches and assist with publications. May supervise staff by orienting, training and giving them ongoing performance feedback. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in a science discipline, business management, or related field and two years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

Additional Information about the position:

The Research Coordinator position will be an integral part of the Center for Contemplative Sciences and Compassion-Based Ethics, specifically the SEE Learning Compassion Lab. The Research Coordinator will focus on administrative tasks and will support a current project that has been funded to develop an app for SEE Learning. The coordinator's work will focus on working with program sites in Tulua, Colombia, as part of a larger app development project spanning across Colombia and India. The position requires fluency in Spanish . Leveraging the existing relationships, structures, and processes established through SEE Learning affiliates and organizations will be essential in the tool's development, piloting, and scaling.

The coordinator may need to travel to pilot and app development sites to conduct focus groups, acquire in-person feedback, and derive insights from this feedback to support improvement cycles during the development process.The coordinator with work with teams to support this site and to support the alignment of site activities with other team members.

Beyond this project, the scope of responsibilities will extend to broader research initiatives involving grant development, general study site support, and website development. The Research Coordinator will be responsible for general research administration and project management across various research sites. This includes tasks such as grant application development and submissions, IRB development and maintenance, research website development, and other study-related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support research team members in coordinating with schools, departments, and central administration globally to ensure research compliance with national regulations and university policies.

  2. Work with the team on the develop and maintenance of research and implementation training materials for study personnel, ensuring adherence to protocol requirements and documenting training.

  3. Support funding application processes.

  4. Work with the team to support the manage of domestic and international study team projects, including the development of educational materials, scheduling meetings, and day-to-day project management.

  5. Work with the research team to assist with database design, security, data storage, and management.

  6. Work with the research team members, include the student team to conduct literature reviews to support grant applications and manuscripts.

  7. Participate in progress reports, data entry, and IRB protocol modifications/submissions with minimal supervision.

  8. Work with the study team to participate in basic qualitative and quantitative data management and analysis.

  9. Work with the research team to support the development and maintenance of the research website.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of experience in administrative work involving research program/project management.

  2. Master’s degree and prior work experience in higher education research setting

  3. Demonstrated organizational ability, attention to detail, and talent for multi-tasking. 

  4. Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with a variety of constituents, including students and faculty.  

  5. Strong computer skills including fluency with Microsoft Office suite.Some experience with basic statistical programs for study tracking and participant monitoring.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
