The Division of Pulmonology, Asthma, Cystic Fibrosis & Sleep in the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine, in collaboration with the Georgia Cystic Fibrosis Data Warehouse, is actively seeking a Junior Full Stack Engineer to join our dynamic team. Positioned at the forefront of medical research and innovation, our mission is to improve the lives of individuals affected by cystic fibrosis (CF) through advanced data analysis and technological solutions. Working in CF research offers both excitement and fulfillment, driven by our dedicated team and the inspirational individuals living with CF and their families whom we aim to support. Our goal is to develop a cloud-based, high-quality infrastructure enabling access to integrated clinical and research data. This technology is expected to provide groundbreaking insights into CF pathophysiology, driving advancements in CF research and opening avenues for innovative treatment approaches.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As part of our commitment to excellence, we are seeking a talented Junior Full Stack Engineer with a specialization in AngularJS to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in building intuitive and user-friendly interfaces for accessing and analyzing CF-related data.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides software development support including the identification and generation of software specifications and the designing, development, implementation and revision of software applications to meet business needs.

  • Supports software applications and associated operating systems.

  • Reviews software specifications, systems, models and coding using analytical and investigative methods and techniques to ensure required specifications meet system needs.

  • Participates in software testing and subsequent modifications.

  • Writes and edits reports to provide recommendations, conclusions and other data.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

SPECIFIC DETAILS:

Primary Focus:

  • Full Stack software development (Java/Spring/Angular/RDBMS)

Secondary Capabilities:

  • AWS experience.

  • Designs and implements interoperable RESTful services, middleware components, data models, and user interfaces for integration of multiple software systems, applications, and databases.

  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Automate the software development lifecycle in build, test, and deployment phases.

  • Analyze, propose, and seamlessly integrate 3rd party client-side tools and functionality.

  • Collaborate with fellow developers, designers, analysts, and software testers to update the application to meet business needs.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain the health of AWS resources.

  • Enforce security best practices and compliance standards within the AWS environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, math, engineering or a related field and one year of related experience in programming and software systems or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Knowledge of software development in a research institution context preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum two years of relevant experience.

  • Experience with Java, Spring Framework, Angular, IntelliJ (or other IDE), and version control systems (e.g., Git).

  • A good understanding of AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, etc.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English to interact with stakeholders, comprehend requirements, and explain technical concepts to non-technical team members.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University location as needed and at times, on short notice. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
