Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the development and delivery of student academic services programs to students and departmental faculty and staff in a large college or division.

  • Interprets policies and procedures for division staff and other university administrators. Researches and recommends technology services to support business operations. Develops and implements process improvement plans to support more efficient operations.

  • Advises students regarding graduation requirements and refers them to appropriate academic advisor as necessary. Collaborates with numerous academic departments and university offices to clarify policies and resolve students' and parents' concerns. May represent the department at university-wide meetings.

  • Creates and updates the office handbook which includes information on various programs and division policies and procedures. Is accountable for all students' files.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of technology improvements to provide file access in multiple office locations. Prepares statistical data to show how student services resources are utilized.

  • Trains and supervises graduate program assistants and other student staff. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of college coursework. A bachelor's degree is preferred. Five years of experience in student admissions, financial aid, registration or a related field. Experience with various personal computer software packages.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • The position will be assigned primary areas of responsibility across Emory College’s Transient Study process; Transfer Credit Appeals and Letter of Good Standing / Dean’s certification requests.

  • The Student Academic Services Specialist exercises attention to detail and problem-solving skills in fulfilling various requests and resolving any outstanding concerns.

  • The candidate will practice a high level of organizational skill to assist with records retention policies and compliance.

  • Managing the application processes for assigned responsibility area. Facilitating review process for various applications and appeals.

  • Participating in cyclical department wide enrollment efforts and related drives. Communicating with various constituents (faculty, students, program chairs, etc). Producing application processing and related reports as needed.

  • Ensuring end users are trained in the application approval process. Collaborating with campus partners, such as the Office of Admission and the Office of the University Registrar.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five years of experience in student enrollment, admissions, financial aid, or a related field.

  • Fluency with MS Office – 365 and various personal computer software packages. Familiarity with Peoplesoft preferred.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
