JOB DESCRIPTION: Manages the development and delivery of student academic services programs to students and departmental faculty and staff in a large college or division. Interprets division policies and procedures for division staff and other university administrators. Develops, designs and implements student academic services in conjunction with department and faculty administrators. May advise students of graduation requirements. Develops the content of communications materials to enhance student, staff and faculty awareness of services offered. Responds to inquiries from students, faculty, staff and parents and determines the appropriate resolution to their concerns. Represents the department at meetings. Assesses the effectiveness of office procedures to ensure department is meeting service goals and recommends changes when appropriate. Hires and supervises student employees. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in a field related to the department's area of specialty or other related field. Five years of experience related to student admissions, financial aid, registration or a related field. Experience with various personal computer software packages. Additional Details

This position will serve as one of two Associate Directors of Academic Programs (ADAP) for the Executive MPH (EMPH) program. The EMPH program is the distance-based MPH at the Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH) designed specifically for working professionals. Utilizing a blended format, students in the Executive MPH program attend on-campus long weekends (Fri-Sat-Sun) at the Emory campus in Atlanta at the beginning and end of each semester. All course work between these on-campus weekends is facilitated by the Blackboard course management system (program is transitioning to Canvas). The 42-semester hour program is designed to be completed in six semesters, with a maximum of three courses per semester. The Executive MPH program currently offers three concentrations (“tracks”) in: 1.) Applied Epidemiology; 2.) Applied Public Health Informatics; and 3.) Prevention Science.

Although this position will be cross-trained in the areas of recruitment, admissions and alumni relations, the primary focus on this position will be to oversee the student lifecycle from time of deposit and matriculation through graduation. Specific tasks include: provide initial onboarding into EMPH program; coordinate student orientation; provide academic advisement; register students for courses; track student progress through program; clear students for graduation; identify student challenges and develop/implement solutions; work with program director and associate director for academic affairs to develop, implement and maintain student policies (e.g., on-campus exemption, participation by non-degree seeking students); coordinate class schedule each semester and faculty classroom needs (e.g., computer labs); coordinate on-campus weekends; participate in curriculum discussions; support program’s faculty practicum advisor; represent program at school-wide meetings (e.g., Student Leadership Committee, ADAPs, Education Committee); serve as liaison with school’s central student services office.

This position requires attendance and participation in evening and weekend activities.

Preference will be given to applicants who have:

  • Master degree in public health, education, student counseling, higher education admissions and recruitment, or related field

  • Experience working with adult students

  • Experience working in a distance executive education degree program

  • Experience working in public or private non-profit institutions of higher education

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Experience with Canvas learning management system
