  • The Workforce Planning Consultant will support initiatives that align human capital with organizational goals, ensure efficiency and flexibility of the workforce to better respond to internal and external change, and improve system staffing and retention.

  • The incumbent will assist with development and maintenance of a business intelligence infrastructure to support HR decision making for workforce planning initiatives in addition to assessing market benchmarks related to employment metrics.

  • Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultative services to system leadership and subject matter experts to assist with development and implementation of custom solutions that address workforce issues.

  • Assist with the development of a five-year strategic workforce forecast and plan including scenario planning, modeling, conducting environmental scan, performing gap analysis, and monitoring and evaluating workforce plan progress.

  • Conduct workforce planning analysis to determine what gaps exist between the current and projected workforce needs in the short-term and long-term in order to develop mitigation strategies.

  • Partner with Operations leaders, Finance, and HR Business Partners to understand workforce requirements in terms of headcount, budget requirements, and skills now and in the future.

  • Stay current on industry practices and issues related to workforce planning, assessing and communicating their potential impact on the business.

  • Prepare reports on workforce characteristics for key stakeholders related to specific job segments leveraging data analytics and internal/external workforce insights and trends.

  • Analyze established systems, methods, practices and procedures to evaluate their effectiveness utilizing existing information and makes recommendations for improved processes and procedures.

  • Develop business cases, as needed.

  • Gather, analyze and collate internal and external labor data trends.

  • Develop recommendations based on predictive models.

  • Build relationships with community partners, including local SON, to develop talent pipeline.

  • Partner with leadership to develop and assist with retention efforts focusing on flexible work environments and work-life balance.

  • Act as a liaison/resource to community organizations.

  • Assist in re-engineering efforts using best business practices.

  • Measure process/program effectiveness and create actionable insight and understanding, through the analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data, building recommendations that directly address business objectives.

  • Presents findings to senior HR leaders to drive action or remediation.

  • Integrate people, equipment, facilities and other resources to improve work results, operating efficiency, effectiveness, productivity and/or adaptation to new requirements.

  • Coordinate and oversee HR programs and events as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Experience leading organizational project teams/programs with experience in performing data analysis, and using assessment findings to plan recommendations strongly preferred.

  • Ability to function independently with a high level of autonomy and discretion.

  • Knowledge of prevailing practices in healthcare human resources and workforce planning preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in modeling workforce trends and analytics and utilizing findings to make recommendations.

  • Ability to facilitate program design and create consensus.

  • Ability to independently interact with leaders on matters of significance.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

  • Ability to clearly and concisely present information of a complex nature.

  • Ability to develop and foster key business relationships with leaders.

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Engineering or related field required.

  • Masters degree in Human Resources, Business, Industrial Engineering or related field strongly preferred.

  • Three years of professional experience in consulting, human resources, business or in a related field.

  • Candidates with a graduate degree may only require two years of work experience in the disciplines above to qualify.
