As the Global Health Communications Manager, leads and manages the Task Force for Global Health's communication strategies, ensuring effective dissemination of information related to global health initiatives. This pivotal role involves developing and executing comprehensive communication plans, overseeing content creation, and building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders on a global scale.

The Health Campaign Effectiveness (HCE) Coalition was established in early 2020 through a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF). The Coalition brings together global and country leaders, donors, multilateral organizations and NGOs from several large-scale health campaign domains (e.g. vaccine-preventable diseases, neglected tropical diseases, malaria, and vitamin A supplementation) in a global partnership for cross-campaign action. The Task Force for Global Health hosts the HCE Program Office, which provides programmatic and secretariat support to the Coalition including strategy development, convening, advocacy, partnership engagement, and knowledge synthesis/management. JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Supports the strategic approaches of the Health Campaign Effectiveness (HCE) Coalition.

  • Under the direction of the Associate Deputy Director, implements integrated communication strategies and plans to enhance awareness and use of the HCE Program and Coalition products among targeted audiences.

  • Serves as a liaison to Global Health partner organization communications and advocacy teams and oversees communications activities across the Coalition.

  • Leads the writing and development of key messages and content.

  • Leads the creation of impactful and culturally sensitive content for various platforms, including newsletters, blog posts, press releases, articles, social media, and multimedia materials.

  • Interviews staff and partners and synthesizes relevant information to develop stories.

  • Writes, designs, and manages production of print and digital materials (reports, video scripts, slide decks/presentations, one-pagers, etc).

  • Leads the development of clear key messages for a variety of target Global Health audiences.

  • Advises on, reviews, and edits communications materials drafted by colleagues and partners.

  • Facilitates knowledge management activities by creating and regularly curating updated, user-friendly content and products for the HCE Coalition's website; updates content/web copy when needed, and manages web developers.

  • Designs and manages website improvements, changes, and additions. Leads website knowledge management activities, particularly regarding curating resources in the knowledge base.

  • Lead the communications activities for the HCE Coalition, with a strategic focus on disseminating knowledge, informing and engaging global audiences across multiple communications channels about the work of the Coalition, its progress, and its impact.

  • Implements and manages HCE Coalition communications strategy. Develops, manages, and cultivates a balanced content calendar that takes into account original content, newsletter, social media, and external content.

  • Makes strategic decisions regarding key messages, featured topics, and Coalition partner promotions/collaborations, for all Coalition communication activities.

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of communication strategies across platforms and audiences and provides insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Actively engages and liaises with Global Health partner organization communications and advocacy teams.

  • Develops and maintains effective methods for distributing communication materials and information internationally.

  • Supports messaging and dissemination of HCE Coalition focus country learnings with various Coalition partners (at country and global levels). Manages and collaborates on the planning, execution, and promotion of hybrid and virtual dissemination events, including webinars, meetings, conferences, workshops, etc.

  • Manages all aspects of communications functions including activity and work plans, systems that streamline content production and placement, and management using Google Workspace, Smartsheet, Salesforce and other tools.

  • Supervises and provides direction to interns and consultants.

  • Works collaboratively with internal communications groups across the Task Force and among partner organizations.

  • Maintains required record-keeping and documentation, and trains staff in the use of communications technology as needed.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree in public health, and four years of experience in the development of marketing and informational materials, writing/research, project management and/or information technology, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Experience refers to paid or unpaid, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) or other organizations (e.g. professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student or social).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in global health, or a related field

  • Strong project management skills and experience leading cross-functional teams

  • Proficiency in digital communication tools, social media platforms, and content management systems

  • Advanced slide deck/presentation development skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on cross-cultural sensitivity, storytelling and/or advocacy

  • Proven success in designing and creating effective communications products, website content, and related collateral to reach intended audience(s)

  • Proven ability to synthesize information to develop clear messaging on highly technical subjects for a variety of target audiences

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
