Description

Shift: 8:30a-5p

Location: Emory Decatur Hospital

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Evaluates and implements care of adult and geriatric patients undergoing mammography and invasive breast needle procedures. Provides care to patient populations with complex health issues and serves as a clinical resources to staff.

  • Coordinates patient flow in absence of Mammography Technologist Clinician IV. Functions independently as a coordinator.

  • Resolves issues that arise during operations and interprets related policies to ensure quality care.

  • May serve on and participate in committees and cost containment activities. Actively participates in preparation of regulatory agency reviews.

  • Identifies more complex or subtle patient problems, symptoms, and behavioral changes. Assists colleagues in recognizing, interpreting, and managing unstable patient care situations.

  • Collaborates with other health disciplines concerning patient care. Regularly provides direct care for the more complex patients with minimal supervision.

  • Addresses the more complex or subtle issues in the standards of care. Prioritizes radiologic interventions for patient care.

  • Practices radiation protection techniques using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patients and staff.

  • Performs efficiently and knowledgeably in emergency situations. Anticipates potential patient crises through continual evaluation of patient care.

  • Determines appropriate radiologic interventions of identified patient problems. Assists in developing standards of care.

  • Communicates patient's and staff needs and responses through appropriate verbal and written communications.

  • Participates in the development and revision of patient care and operational forms including clinical pathways.

  • Appropriately documents all procedural elements required by department. Establishes and meets goals in one or more of the following areas: clinical practice, management, education, and research.

  • Completes and maintains advanced certification. Serves as resource in resolving issues related to patient advocacy.

  • Identifies patient advocacy opportunities. Acts as a resource for complex interdisciplinary needs.

  • Develops or revises policies and procedures pertaining to specialized patient populations to improve the quality of patient care.

  • Assists in identifying ways in which patient outcomes can be modified, through research and/or quality monitoring activities to improve the quality of patient care.

  • Participates on committee/council or PI team. Interacts with and establishes professional relationships with other patient team members.

  • Utilizes available resources to clarify standards of care, policies, and procedures. Assist in research and related activities in the department of radiology.

  • Corresponds with investigators to provide additional information.

  • Identifies and communicates researchable problems as appropriate. analyzes and reports data to appropriate source. Performs other responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and registered with the ARRT.

  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience in Mammography.

  • They must also have two (2) years experience with invasive mammography procedures such as needle biopsy to include stereotactic breast biopsy.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
