JOB DESCRIPTION: This position supports and coordinates section sponsored revenue cycle functions that include charge capture, coding, and edit/denial management; manages section based resources, aligning them with best-in-class performance metrics in specific categories of revenue cycle (productivity, compliance, accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency). The position has a matrix reporting relationship with Patient Financial Services (PFS) as well as Administration for the assigned Section.

In conjunction with PFS and section leadership this role is responsible for establishing, meeting and exceeding operational work flow, productivity and results standards related to the above functions; participates in the development and implementation of a Clinic-wide revenue cycle integration model that coordinates and aligns the resources deployed to revenue cycle functions across the sections in efforts to build consistency of work flow and optimization of resources. The position also organizes, manages, and monitors the performance productivity of staff in revenue cycle roles.

Provides on-going performance feedback, addresses problems, hires, orients and trains employees. Plans and schedules work assignments.

Maintains and monitors revenue cycle metrics for assigned section. Provides and analyzes data and makes recommendations for improved effieciences in the revenue cycle fucntion for the section. Prepares operational reports and analyses reflecting progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

Liaisons between section and PFS on all revenue cycle related issues. Trains staff as appropriate on revenue cycle activities, coding, billing and reimbursement practices. Acts as a resource to section staff on matters pertaining to revenue cycle.

Works with manager to formulate plan for professional development. Attends educational in-services as appropriate. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree required. Professional Certification as RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS, or CHDA is desired. 2-4 years experience with revenue cycle functions in physician services; preferably in both the shared service (business office) and clinical department environments. OR Graduation from the Operations Development Program (ODP). Demonstrated understanding in how to manage resources across an organization to maximize organization impact in multiple Sections (shared resources). Experience with ambulatory care environments and ability to translate and embed standard operating procedures and process into the clinical environment where appropriate.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
