JOB DESCRIPTION: Helps design and conduct research within a specified field while receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career. The specific area of research in which the trainee is mentored is determined by the department and laboratory of the Postdoc. Designs and evaluates experiments. Develops new ideas that promote current research. Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator. May be responsible for operation of specific equipment. May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.

Additional Details

This position is available for one-year with the possibility of renewal for a second year. This position include training opportunities within the EAC Education and Transitional Services Program (i.e., Monarch Program) with potential collaborations with the EAC Adult Program. There will be a particular emphasis on transition-age youth and their families. The position provides outstanding training in school-based consultative services for students w/autism spectrum disorder (ASD), social and life skills intervention for adults w/ASD, & assessment for transition-age youth & adults. Add'l activities may include individual psychotherapy for adolescents & adults w/ASD, grant preparation, participation on interdisciplinary research teams, development of curricula for social skills groups, & technical assistance to institutions of post-secondary education.

-Knowledge and experience with autism spectrum disorder (ASD); prior work experience with transition-age youth as well as family interaction. Must have an advanced degree in psychology or similar discipline; position would provided work hours toward professional licensure. Appropriate candidates will have obtained their doctoral degree in School Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Special Education, or other related applied fields. Strong experience in assessment and intervention with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is required. Candidates should possess excellent scientific writing ability, strong oral communication skills, and outstanding interdisciplinary teamwork skills. Candidates with a background in strong behavioral intervention methods and some experience with individual and group psychotherapy are preferred.-72579BR
