Within Emory University’s Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) organization, the Manager, Product Management is part of the Research Solutions group to support Emory University’s Research, Education and Service missions. The incumbent leads a team of IT Product Managers to develop and operationalize the adoption of a set of technologies to meet the needs of the Emory community, such as products and servicesfor data capture and surveys, data visualization and analytics, cloud-based computing and more. The incumbent collaborates with Emory’s world class researchers, physicians, students, and staff to help advance discoveries in health sciences and other disciplines, improve the care of patients, and enhance the education of learners throughout the Emory Community.

Researches, defines, prioritizes and documents product requirements, use cases and design for feature enhancements for existing and new software products while considering the needs of users, competitive market offerings, technology trends and overall institutional strategy. Directly or through cohesive team leadership, takes ownership and manages a portfolio of assigned products through all phases of product life cycle. Drives the process of working with, and prioritizing inputs from, multiple constituents including academic and business users, professional services consultants, support personnel, sales, and development. Communicates and coordinates with constituents on proposed solutions, status and timeline for delivery. Delivers internal and external training on products, new feature enhancements or extension modules. Leads, or participates in, speaking engagements or product demonstrations as needed, as well as intake consulting sessions with prospective users. Fosters community of practice and knowledge sharing among users of the product, through coordination of awareness communication and events, shared knowledge and code bases, use case identification and pattern development. Leads team members and constituents into adhering to best practices and high-quality standards for IT service design, implementation and operations including security and regulatory compliance for data and systems. Manages the defect resolution process including project management, requirements gathering and testing and customer communication throughout the release.

Serves as a product expert, and understands the market, user workflows and domain-specific settings. Collaborates with multiple IT teams to deliver solutions to meet end user and institutional needs: client services and local IT units, infrastructure and middleware operations, data and software solution delivery, enterprise application operations, IT Security and University compliance. Monitors performance of solutions through metrics around customer satisfaction, return of value, success factors and continuous improvement. Identifies enhancements and owns the product backlog. Understands market trends and technology advancements; incorporates knowledge into product plans and roadmaps. Conceptualizes new products or features for development based on customer awareness and/or research. Contributes to the strategic and operational planning for the solutions team. Maintains vendor relationship management with 3 rd party products to ensure an accurate understanding of the product roadmap and upgrade schedule, and manage user and enterprise licensing models and keys as relevant. Performs related responsibilities as required.

  • Experience withfederal and state regulations, such asthe Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), or similar compliance standards

  • Certification in ITIL foundations, Service Strategy, Service Design, Continual Service Improvement, PMP, Pragmatic Product Management framework, or related experience a plus

  • Experience with software technologies used for analytics (e.g., Tableau, RStudio), structured data capture / surveys (e.g., REDCap, Qualtrics), Big data, cohort discovery, customer relationship management, cloud-based computing is a plus

  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), automated testing and CI/CD pipelines, software configuration management, and other IT delivery standards a plus

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field and Five years of product management, business analysis, business relationship management and software development experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Master's degree in business preferred. Strong knowledge of operating systems, databases, and application layer technologies support to troubleshooting and identify issues.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence others, resolve conflicts, and lead a Product Delivery Team. Demonstrates advanced level proficiency in work productivity tools such as MS-Office suite, diagramming tools, and project management software.
