Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides public health expert consultative services to countries' ministries

  • of health, US counties, cities or states, for the Task Force for Global Health.

  • Plans, develops, and implements public health programs in collaboration with local, state, and international governments and various public, non-profit, and private and health-related organizations.

  • Analyzes existing or proposed systems, strategies, services, or other health-related matters; identifies needs for improvement and the methods and resources to accomplish such improvements.

  • Develops, implements, and monitors performance evaluation and tracking systems; evaluates and analyzes data collection and utilization methods and quality control.

  • Provides leadership in developing and implementing program plans and data sets consistent with funding requirements and national initiatives.

  • Leads and/or participates in operational or planning meetings, public briefings, or other formal and informal settings to publicize program and/or gain support and cooperation.

  • Assists with developing strategies for program promotion, education, communication, and outreach.

  • Independently, or in collaboration with others, prepares and/or assists with preparing contracts, agreements, proposals, etc. for professional, laboratory, or other services pertinent to the program, study, or project.

  • Assists in planning, implementation, and operation of training systems for practitioners, researchers, and other professionals.

  • Conducts and/or assists in the development and delivery of training courses (e.g., community planning, prevention and intervention, outreach strategies, data collection, etc.); and assists with special studies and/or demonstrations.

  • Independently, or in collaboration with others, prepares reports and other substantive program documentation including technical documents on research findings, scientific methodologies, evaluation results, fact sheets, etc.

  • Develops strategies for dissemination of information to professional groups, private and public sector organizations, health agencies, and the media through publications, correspondence, and presentations.

  • Manages and oversees funding/budgets and a variety of grants, cooperative agreements, contracts, and other awards including initiation, administration, award, monitoring, evaluation, coordination, and close-out.

  • Serves as the principal program representative and provides program expertise, guidance, and leadership on unusually difficult and complex programs.

  • Provides comprehensive technical, administrative, and management advice and guidance on program activities that are extremely broad and diverse and are carried out by a large staff usually organized in multiple operating echelons.

  • Formulates program strategies including goals, priorities, operating policies, and evaluation methods and approaches.

  • Designs and carries out long-range planning and evaluation.

  • Collects, compiles, analyzes, and/or synthesizes a large amount of program data to prepare summaries and reports.

  • Recruits and supervises student interns and fellows.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree in public health from an accredited school, and five years of experience working with countries to implement public health intervention and strategies.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
