The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. We are currently seeking a Senior Associate Director of Alumni Engagement.

The Regional Engagement team is comprised of alumni engagement officers working to strengthen Emory's alumni communities and presence in key constituent markets, including but not limited to Washington, D.C., Boston, MA, Baltimore, MD, Richmond, VA, and Philadelphia, PA. Across the team, these officers build relationships that focus on engagement, volunteerism, and donors at the annual-giving level. This position will report to the Managing Senior Director of Alumni Engagement.

NOTE: The Senior Associate Director of Alumni Engagement - Regional Engagement should live or be within a reasonable driving distance to Washington, DC.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, designs, and implements programs and activities designed to strengthen ties between a program and its constituents.

  • Develops, markets, plans, and manages the events/activities coordinated through the designated program.

  • Works to increase alumni engagement for a targeted audience through alumni and student programming and events, special interest groups, volunteer programs, affinity programs, and online services.

  • Cultivates and manages relationships with volunteers, board, chapter, and affinity alumni organizations.

  • Develops program relationship both within the division, and other campus offices/schools/divisions.

  • May represent the program off campus and manage the integration of activities with other initiatives.

  • Manages a program budget. May manage professional or support staff.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: In addition to the duties outlined above, the Senior Associate Director may be required to:

  • Represent the department or serve as primary contact working with other departments across the division/University.

  • Maintain information on selected alumni and prospects including contact reports in CRM system.

  • Meet division metrics for visit preparation, qualification, contact reports, visits, referrals, and accurate coding using the CRM system.

  • Track and evaluate program metrics and produce reports on program and event participants to provide an analysis of populations served and inform on goals for respective volunteer programs.

  • Manage technology/information and master database software and applications with the ability to assess data used to determine the use of resources.

  • Research potential prospects for volunteer and engagement opportunities.

  • Develop and conduct individual and training programs, orientations, and written materials for alumni programs.

  • Develop, lead, and train colleagues and volunteers to execute digital engagement campaigns/programs in support of increased connectivity and presence across digital alumni communities.

  • Maintain knowledge/expertise of best practices and current trends for alumni engagement.

  • Some night and weekend work, and travel is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and four years of alumni engagement, event planning, public relations or other related experience OR an equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful candidates will possess strong organizational, written and verbal communication, and effective presentation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, navigate a complex work environment, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Experience managing volunteers and events, leading teams, working independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

  • Experience working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, and CRM systems.

  • Prior experience in advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting.

  • Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University location as needed and at times, on short notice. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
