  • Assumes responsibility for clinical and resource management of unit/department (24hrs/day).

  • The Director demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.

  • He or she assumes responsibility for employee, physician, and patient satisfaction for quality of care.

  • The Director supports hospital leadership and carries out the mission, vision, values and quality commitment of the hospital. Recommends space and other resources needed by department.

  • Participates in selecting outside sources for needed services.

  • Foster expansion of existing clinical programs to enhance market share and improve operation performance.

  • Operationalizes decisions that are made as it relates to strategic and business planning activities.

  • Meets budgeted expectations in regards to labor productivity and expense management.

  • Participates in strategic planning, operations and capital budgeting processes.

  • Integrates department¿s services with the hospital¿s primary functions and mission.

  • Coordinates and integrates service within their department and with other departments.

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support provision of patient care and services.

  • Oversees care of population served by providing support and expertise to staff.

  • Continually assesses and assigns patient care.

  • Continually assesses and improves department¿s performance in the hospital¿s PI program, National Patient Safety Goals, and corporate initiatives.

  • Maintains appropriate quality control programs.Ensures quality of patient care and assists in patient care as necessary.

  • Handles all staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring and training new staff members.

  • Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care and services.

  • Determines the qualifications and competence of department personnel who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners in support roles.

  • Provides for orientation, in-service training, and continuing education of all persons in the department.

  • Maintains knowledge of current diagnostic standards and procedures as recommended by the American College of Radiology and American Registry of Radiologic TechnologyMaintains effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks or the work environment; adjusts effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures.

  • Maintains the ability to perform procedures in the discipline in which registered to include assessment of patient care needs.

  • Is proficient in all systems within Radiology to include but not limited to PACS, Meditech, and Rimage Digitizer.

  • Encourages others to seek opportunities for different and innovative approaches to addressing problems and opportunities; facilitates the implementation and acceptance of change within the workplace.

  • Represents Radiology services to external and internal audiences through the application of community relations and marketing activities.

  • Enhance professional growth and development of department staff through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.

  • Directs the maintenance of department facilities, equipment, supplies and materials in a condition to promote efficient, safe and effective services for patients, physicians, and staff.


  • Bachelor's degree preferred. ARRT Certification Preferred. Good Computer Skills.

  • Good Organizational Skills.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
