Emory Healthcare/Emory University Assistant Professor of Quantitative Theory and Methods, Teaching-Track in Oxford, Georgia

Oxford College of Emory University invites applications for a full-time, teaching-track faculty position in Quantitative Theory and Methods (https://quantitative.emory.edu/) (https://quantitative.emory.edu/) (QTM) to begin August 1, 2024. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of assistant teaching professor; teaching-track faculty have multi-year, renewable appointments and are eligible for promotion. We seek an instructor with experience or significant interest in teaching quantitative research methods and statistics to first- and second-year undergraduate students. We will consider applicants from a broad range of academic backgrounds, as long as their education emphasized quantitative methods.

The successful candidate will typically teach two sections of an introductory statistics course (QTM 100) each semester. There may also be opportunities to teach a first-year seminar in the candidate’s area of expertise and/or to contribute other courses in the QTM sequence. In addition, they will oversee the ongoing development and delivery of the online, asynchronous lab that is a part of the QTM 100 curriculum. Each lab is comprised of one or more instructional videos, handouts, and quizzes, designed to help students connect and apply lecture content using R. As such, experience with creating online asynchronous content is also preferred.

The successful candidate will show a strong commitment to teaching, an interest in active engagement in service (broadly defined), and a strong appreciation for the university's student-centered mission.
