Visiting Assistant Professor—Chemistry

Located 36 miles east of Atlanta on Emory’s original campus Oxford, Georgia, Oxford College invites applications for a visiting assistant professor position in Chemistry for the 2022-2023 academic year, beginning August 2022.

The successful candidate will teach lecture courses and their accompanying laboratories each semester, contributing to the first-year sequence of Emory’s new integrated chemistry curriculum. Chemistry 150 provides an introduction to atomic and molecular structure including conformation and stereochemistry. Chemistry 202 combines topics traditionally taught in general chemistry courses with organic chemistry topics with the goal of providing a basic understanding of kinetics and thermodynamics of chemical reactions and how these are related to the structure of the reactants and products and the pathways between them. The lecture and laboratory courses are taught alongside a cohort of faculty colleagues in Oxford’s state-of-the-art science facility designed to promote student-faculty collaboration, scholarship, and innovative teaching in STEM. Required—A MS in chemistry or a subdiscipline, or Ph.D. completion expected.

Preferred—Candidates who have experience with engaging students in investigative laboratory exercises and high-impact pedagogies are particularly encouraged to apply. Previous experience teaching college-level chemistry courses is desirable.
